ReBalance

August 2019 Rebecca had the news from PRS Foundation that she had been selected to be one of the ReBalance artists for their ground breaking initiative.

ReBalance supports both artists and up and coming female engineers in a 3 year programme which offers valuable studio time and industry support.

The aim of the project is to strengthen the talent pipeline and progression routes for female artists and engineers.

Artists and engineers were nominated by industry experts (labels, managers, streaming services, publishers, promoters, agents, journalists, etc.) then invited by Festival Republic and PRS Foundation to nominate their choices.

A selection panel then shortlisted and selected the successful artists and engineers from this nominated shortlist.

ReBalance Artists

In January 2020 at Old Chapel Studios Leeds Rebecca met and teamed with Palm Bay Music Music Producer and Sound Engineer Rhiannon Mair and set to work on and record ‘Love like This’ and other demo’s of Rebecca’s original songs including ‘Constellations’.

After the weeks residency – relax

As a result of the collaboration between Rebecca and ReBalance Rebecca later learned that she had been selected to perform at the iconic Isle of Wight Festival #IOW2020 thanks to Live Nation / Festival Republic

Isle of Wight Festival 2020

Rebecca will be performing her original music at the iconic Isle of Wight Festival #IOW2020 Friday 12th June 2020

Tickets

It’s widely known that The Isle of Wight Festival is the first major festival in the UK summer calendar every year. But the Festival’s heritage reaches back over an extraordinary 51 years, is incredibly rich and varied and some facts are better known than others.

Here, we share some of our favourites with you…

The Isle of Wight Festival began with a series of Festivals between 1968 and 1970, widely acknowledged as Europe’s equivalent of Woodstock.

In 1970, a line up over 5 days included (amongst others) Jimi Hendrix, The Who, The Doors, Joni Mitchell, Supertramp, Leonard Cohen, Joan Baez, Chicago, Procol Harum and played to over 600,000 people.

There was no Isle of Wight Festival between 1970 and 2002 – when John Giddings, an established music promoter, seized the opportunity to re-launch it. John still curates every part of the Festival we enjoy today.

Latest Artist announcement

Since 2002, The Isle of Wight Festival stages have hosted The Rolling Stones, The Who, David Bowie, Muse, Foo Fighters, Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, Pearl Jam, Kasabian, Amy Winehouse, Kings of Leon, Jay-Z, The Strokes, Coldplay, The Sex Pistols, Fleetwood Mac, The Police, Blondie and Biffy Clyro.

#IOW2020 Full Line up

Real music is our heritage and one we’re constantly building on. Like life, music constantly evolves and changes, and so do we. We’re a Festival for real music lovers of all ages and that’s why this year you’ll find and teen tickets and family-friendly areas as well as a raft of accommodation options for the non-campers and VIP services for those who want to do a Festival, but not in the traditional way.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

July 20th 2019

UK singer songwriter Rebecca Hurn Is Among The Year’s Most Exceptional Artists & Releases
Honored in New York City at The Global 17th Annual Independent Music Awards

IMA Awards 22nd June NYC

Singer Songwriter Rebecca Hurn received top honors in the Folk/Singer-Songwriter Song category for her original song ‘Waves’ at The 17th annual Independent Music Awards (The IMAs), the influential program for independent artists and releases across the world.

What makes this International award most noteworthy for Rebecca are factors outside the submitted work that are not considered (social media following, plays/spins/views, past accomplishments, charting history, gig history, etc.)

Emphasis may vary from category to category, but submissions are consequently based on elements such as vocal performance, musicianship, lyrics, structure, arrangement, production, originality, etc.

In todays digital age algorithms play no part, judges actually listen to the music, vocals and lyrics rather than look at the numbers.

(For the number crunchers Rebecca consequently received the award for her song ‘Waves’ from others in her category who had hundreds of thousands of followers with one fellow nominee on Spotify with just under 1.7 million monthly listeners.)
